Mid-week update

This week was all about studying and having fun! It seems like everyone is improving on their vocabulary, learning new fun things about linguistic and more and more about culture.  On Tuesday we went to the park and played some games and did some improv-theather. The students were having so much fun and were so good that we even had a small audience of a little girl with her mother. This week also marked a very special day for Liz, who turned 18! We got to celebrate by eating Austrian cake and singing Birthday songs in German.

Week 2 (so much chocolate)

Hello everyone! This week started off with a visit of the mayor’s office after class. We got to see the inside of the town hall and were welcomed by a representative of the mayor. The students got to ask questions about Graz and talk with the representative afterwards at a small reception. The students had a lot of fun sitting in the same seats as the politicians of Graz and standing on the balcony overseeing the square. The sandwiches at the receptions were pretty good as well! The rest of the week went smoothly with the students learning phonology and reading fairy-tales. The weather this week was a bit more rainy and cooler overall, but that was a welcome change due to the reduced AC in Europe.  On Friday we skipped school altogether and went on an adventure! We started off on a 2-hour hike through an amazingly pretty area of Styria where we got to help out an Apple-farmer sort out some bad apples and have some apple-baseball games.
